Twelve SoutheastHEALTH marketing projects received statewide recognition at the recent Show Me Excellence Awards held at Camden on the Lake in Osage Beach, Missouri. Southeast won first place for three marketing efforts, including Human Resources recruitment for nursing featuring SoutheastHEALTH nurses; the 2018 photo calendar featuring photographs taken by Southeast staff, physicians, board members and volunteers; and A Polar Express community event in Perryville, Missouri, featuring a special screening of film "The Polar Express" and a holiday food drive.

Drury Hotels

Drury Hotels was recently recognized with the top rank for “Highest in Guest Satisfaction Among Upper Midscale Hotel Chains” in the J.D. Power 2018 North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index Study. This was the 13th consecutive year for the hotel chain to receive the recognition, a record in the J.D. Power hotel category.

Voting Registration

Oct. 10 is the last day to register to vote in Missouri for the 2018 midterm election. This midterm election will be held Nov. 6. Topping the races in Missouri is a U.S. Senate contest between the two major party candidates Sen. Claire McCaskill (Democrat) and Attorney General Josh Hawley (Republican). Voters will also be asked whether to increase the state’s fuel tax from 17 to 27 cents per gallon. The tax increase would provide state law enforcement a dedicated funding source.

Carole Hillis, an in-house, nurse paralegal for Blanton, Nickell, Collins, Douglas & Hanschen, LLC was recently honored as a 2018 Legal Hero by “Missouri Lawyers Weekly.” Since joining the firm, Hillis has had over a decade of experience in evaluation of complex medical issues in medical legal cases. Hillis also provides assistance in representation of the firm’s clients in all types of litigation.

Jackson Chamber of Commerce

The Jackson Chamber of Commerce recently kicked off its Women’s Impact Network (WIN), geared toward programming and connecting local women in the community. The organization’s luncheons are open to the public, and tickets do not require a Chamber membership.

The Bank of Missouri

The Bank of Missouri recently announced several promotions: Dawn Dauer, chief banking officer; Paul Gard and Aaron Panton, regional bank presidents; Kyle Thompson, Jackson community bank president; Julia Wheatley, Steele and Caruthersville community bank president; and Kevin McCormick, Poplar Bluff community bank president.

Athletico

Athletico, an outpatient physical therapy provider, opened in the Town Plaza Center in Cape Girardeau. The company, founded 25 years ago, is one of the largest physical and occupational therapy providers in the country, with more than 400 locations and 4,500 clinicians, athletic trainers and other team members. It will provide physical therapy, athletic training, occupational therapy, specialty programs and fitness services to high schools, colleges and professional sports teams, as well as evaluate workers’ compensation issues.

Southeast Missouri Arts Council

The Southeast Missouri Arts Council recently hired a new gallery manager, Angela Sander. She has an extensive background in the performing arts and holds a Bachelor of Arts in music from the Conservatory of Music and Dance at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. She is finishing her Master of Fine Arts in arts management and leadership at Webster University in St. Louis and has previously worked as venue coordinator for Tin Pan South in Tennessee.
